Compass Wellbeing CIC is delighted to announce its future as an organisation has been secured with the support of East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT).

The Tower Hamlets-based social enterprise will continue to deliver services for local people in an agreement reached with the mental and community health Trust which recently won the contract to provide Talking Therapy services in the borough, previously supplied by Compass Wellbeing.

The agreement reached between Compass Wellbeing and ELFT will ensure the future viability of the social enterprise.

Azom Mortuza, Compass Wellbeing’s Chief Operating and Finance Officer said: ‘This is truly wonderful news. It means we are entering a really exciting and innovative phase where we can build upon Compass Wellbeing’s experience and expertise in partnership with ELFT.

Compass Wellbeing was founded in 2013 as a social enterprise, which means it is a not-for-profit organisation driven by its social mission to ‘Improve Quality of Life’ for local communities.

Previously known as the Tower Hamlets Primary Care Psychology and Counselling Service with a history going back more than 30 years. Since becoming a social enterprise, Compass Wellbeing has also provided School Health and Family Nurse Partnership services.

Family Nurse Partnership works with first time young parents through pregnancy until their child is two years old. The aim is to support young mothers to have a healthy pregnancy, improve their child’s health and development as well as help young parents plan their own futures, achieving their goals and aspirations.

ELFT earlier this year retained its ‘Outstanding’ rating with the NHS regulator, the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The Trust provides community and mental health services across East London in Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets, and also in Bedfordshire and Luton.
