Provision for schools
Provision for schools
If you are a school in Tower Hamlets, we can support you in a number of ways.
Our aim is to:
- provide every school with a named school nurse
- develop and maintain an annual school health profile for each school
- hold drop-in clinics to provide help and advice to children and young people
- attend transition meetings for reception and year 6 pupils
- provide screenings sessions for vision and hearing to all children aged 4 to 5 years
- provide you with resources and support for children who are identified as obese through the National Child Measurement Programme
- develop Individual Health Care Plans for children and young people with medical conditions and additional health needs
- deliver health promotion sessions on Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE), including healthy eating, oral hygiene and minor ailments
- deliver high quality training for school staff on preventing and managing health conditions, such as diabetes, epilepsy, eczema and managing medicines
Our school nurses and nursery nurses strive to improve the health and wellbeing of local children and young people by encouraging healthy lifestyles, promoting emotional health and wellbeing and by providing support, prevention, interventions, education and advice in school and community settings.
