Grants of up to £5,000 per Primary Care Network (PCN) within City and Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets are available for projects to be delivered by the end of March 2022.

Applications to the PCN Community Microgrants Fund to support Neighbourhood Mental Health Teams should support existing organisations, community connectors and peer support workers based and working in the relevant borough to:

  • deliver the aims of the transformation programme i.e. improve care, support and treatment for people living with severe mental ill health in East London
  • support the work to develop BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) community access (working in concert with borough BAME Access Teams) to address inequalities
  • develop capacity, effectiveness and the sustainability of initiatives

To be eligible, organisations must be based-in and/or delivering services in the relevant borough.

What is suitable to be funded:

  • Activities and initiatives that support young adults, working age adults or older adults living with moderate to severe mental health problems and their carers (including but not limited to: psychosis, bipolar disorder, complex emotional needs, eating disorders, severe depression, severe anxiety, and mental health rehabilitation needs – some of which may be co-existing with other conditions such as frailty, cognitive impairment, neurodevelopmental conditions or substance use). It is accepted that some initiatives may not be described as supporting communities with specific diagnostic needs; however, as a principle this fund should primarily support people living with severe mental ill health in east London neighbourhoods

  • Loneliness and social isolation
  • Employability
  • Physical health
  • Interactions with and access to services
  • Activities designed to support BAME access to services (e.g. initiatives identified by local BAME Access Teams)
  • User-led initiatives and innovations
  • Community-led initiatives
  • Establishing or strengthening partnerships
  • Innovative projects involving the community (which must be managed, supervised and have adequate safeguards in place)
  • Funding for one-off events which may be related to activities open to specific communities of need
  • Other initiatives: If the idea/proposal for which you want support is not covered by any of the above items, you may still be eligible for support
